"The Lost Museum" and Creative Hub 1352 FAQs
InSitu is a biennial multi-arts festival which has connected artists and the community in the Small Arms Inspection Building since 2014. In 2021, due to the challenges posed by COVID-19, we chose to present InSitu as “The Lost Museum” – a virtual project accessible anywhere with an internet connection. The Lost Museum involved 9 professional artists supporting outreach projects with 150 community and emerging artists. The concept of The Lost Museum was imagined and created by a Creative Team of Mississauga Artists led by Artist Co-Directors Heather Snell and Jill Hollingsworth and the CreativeHub 1352 organization. The Lost Museum opened March 26, 2021 – magically ‘through a virtual portal at the Small Arms Inspection Building.
InSitu 2021: The Lost Museum is a mysterious place. No one really knows for certain why it arrived and when it will ‘disappear.’ The portal will remain open for the full 2021 year so visitors can learn, explore, be creative, and enjoy art. Who knows? Maybe with lots of visitors and growing collections the Museum will stay around much longer.
Working with Creative Hub 1352, nine Mississauga Artists created outreach projects. Each artist worked digitally with local artists, schools and community organizations to create The Lost Museum Collections.
There are many ways to contribute to The Lost Museum. Visit the Splendorous Study to download copies of each of the Artist Outreach Projects. Try the projects yourself – make a lost umbrella, or a lost book. If you wish to contribute an image of your work to The Lost Museum please contact info@creativehub.ca
